Gifted, Able and Talented
All schools have a register of children who are gifted but Longacre goes beyond the norm. At Longacre we have worked hard to create clear definitions of gifted, talented and able alongside what will best challenge these traits.
Children are identified as gifted, able or talented from as early as three years of age when they are still exploring the world around them. The children are identified by teaching staff and the wider staff team are informed of the children’s abilities enabling the preparation work which will sufficiently challenge and extend the children within and beyond the classroom. A school is only as good as its teachers and our teachers go beyond simple teaching; they challenge, engage, provoke and mentor. Work is differentiated accordingly with separate, appropriate tasks created for this purpose or children joining much higher sets.
Beyond the curriculum, Longacre provides a selection of Master classes and extra clubs to further enrich the learning of our Gifted, Able, and Talented pupils.
Individual children have a Personalised Learning Program (PLP) and parents and pupils are informed about how the school intends to support the child.
