The school is managed by a Board of Governors who are closely involved with its overall running and its policies. Their purpose is to assist the Head in his/her decisions and to support their implementation.
Chairman of Governors: Andrew Blurton
Andrew has over 35 years senior level experience in a variety of roles encompassing finance, operations and general management in the property, hotel, retail and services sector. He is a Member and Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants. He has been an Executive Director of many public companies since 1986, on the Main and AIM markets of the London Stock Exchange. Andrew is married with three children, two of whom attended Longacre, a son until1999 and a daughter until 2003. Andrew chairs the Education and Welfare Committee and is also a member of the Finance and Estates Committee and the Governance Committee of the Governing Body.

Jocelyn retired in 2007 as MD International Capital Markets with Royal Bank of Scotland. He was previously with S G Warburg in London and New York and Hambros in London and Sydney. His children James and Annabel both went to Longacre. Jocelyn chairs the Governance Committee and is a member of the Finance and Estates Committee of the Governing Body.
Sue is a self-employed corporate tax advisor, having previously worked at Arthur Anderson’s London Tax Department and also Lowe Howard Spink & Bell plc. Knightsbridge. Sue is married with two children, both of whom attended Longacre. Sue has been a PTA class representative a number of times and was also the PTA treasurer for two years. Sue is a member of the Education and Welfare Committee and the Finance and Estates Committee of the Governing Body. Sue is the Governor responsible for Safeguarding and the Early Years Foundation Stage.
Tim is a Chartered Accountant with a career in investment banking specialising in advising banks on risk and responding to changing regulatory environments. He played a key role in negotiating RBS’s rescue with the UK Treasury in 2008. Tim chairs the Finance and Estates Committee and is a member of the Governance Committee of the Governing Body.
Martin taught in the maintained sector for 10 years in London and Wellingborough. In 1997 he moved to Oundle School where he held a number of posts including Head of History, Director of Studies and Second Master. Martin is married with three children and has been Headmaster of St John’s since September 2011. He is a member of the HMC Academic Committee and Examinations Task Force and was, for a number of years, a senior examiner. Martin is a member of the Education and Welfare Committee of the Governing Body.
Charlie Zorab is a consultant to the mining industry. Having started as a mining research analyst, he spent 25 years in the securities industry in research, sales, corporate finance and fund management in mining and emerging markets. He is involved with several listed and unlisted natural resource companies. Charlie is a member of the Governance Committee of the Governing Body.
Deryle is a ‘Longacre Mother’ who managed the academic careers of her three children through the Independent sector, from pre-prep to University. Deryle has worked and still works within the education sector – she trained as a Montessori teacher and now supports and scribes for SEN pupils during exam time. Deryle is a member of the Education and Welfare Committee of the Governing Body.
Helen is a self-employed consultant lawyer working with Legal Edge LLP to provide fast growing businesses with commercial legal advice. Helen previously worked as an in-house lawyer in industry for over 15 years. Helen is married with two children, Daniel and Naomi, both of whom attended Longacre. Helen is a member of the Governance Committee of the Governing Body.
Pete is Headmaster at Kingswood House School in Epsom. He qualified as a teacher and joined Kingswood House in 1975 becoming Headmaster in 1997. Pete has always promoted a view of education which not only places children at the heart of their teaching and learning but also recognises the importance of children enjoying their childhood and their education, with success based on the individual rather than against common standards. Pete has a wife (also a Headteacher) and three children (one of whom is a teacher). Peter is a member of the Education and Welfare Committee of the Governing Body.
Richard has worked in the recruitment industry for nearly 30 years gaining extensive knowledge of running multi-sited operations across international markets, and experience in the provision of managed service outsourced solutions. Today he is Managing Director/Senior Vice President at US staffing company Volt with responsibility for their European and Asian operations. He is married with two daughters, both of whom completed their early years’ education at Longacre, and he lives in Shalford. Richard is a member of the Governance Committee of the Governing Body.
