The U11 Boys were extremely lucky to have the expertise of a former England and British Lions rugby coach this week during their games session

Prep School Facilities

All of our children are fortunate to have access to a wealth of modern, specialist facilities which enhance the teaching and learning at Longacre. Children from the age of 2½ move to the specialist rooms for Music and ICT. Pupils in Form II upwards move to the Art Studio with the specialist staff.

Specialist subjects are taught in appropriate rooms; a Science Lab fully equipped with gas taps, chemical storage and benches to enable practical investigative work; an Art Studio complete with kiln, Music Studio storing a wide range of musical instrucments and performance space along with the new build, a Creative Arts Studio, Sports Hall and Astro turf.

Longacre has invested heavily in providing pupils with the latest technology to support their learning. Pupils have access to a wide range of devices, mobile and static: IPads, tablets, laptops and a suite of the latest desk tops in addition to SmartBoards, Interwrite Boards, Smoothboards and Apple TV.

Our aim is to give children confidence in managing all software and hardware as well as exposure to both Microsoft and Apple: who knows what their future will entail. Technology compliments their learning and adds to their skill base; it does not replace text.

Children are able to bring their own devices to school and many use Kindles during reading periods. Longacre is moving towards every child being able to support their own device and connect to the schools educational network.

  • My time at Longacre started in Form III and I made friends with everyone very quickly! Everyone from the staff to the pupils were welcoming.
  • I first joined Longacre in Form III. At first I was really nervous as I had no idea what it was going to be like. I still remember going on a tour around the school with Mrs Bolton.
  • From when I started, back in Nursery, to the moment I will leave in just a week’s time (gosh the time really has gone quickly!), I have really enjoyed Longacre…
