Life before Longacre

After studying International Business at the University of Ulster and working in Human Resources during a gap year, I decided to follow my heart and embark on a teaching career. In 2004 I left the beautiful coastal town of Carrickfergus in Northern Ireland to move to England and gained a PGCE in Business Studies and ICT. I taught in a senior school in South Staffordshire for six years where I also became Head of Business Studies. In 2011 I had the opportunity to move to Germany with my husband and to teach within a British Primary School in Lower Saxony.  We moved back to England in January 2015 and I happily started working at Longacre.

Roles at School

I have a number of roles at Longacre, including Head of Computing; Able, Gifted and Talented Coordinator, Teacher of Maths and Form IV Tutor. In my Head of Computing role I am fortunate to be able to teach every child at Longacre from Form I to Form VI. I enjoy running a ‘Digital Leaders’ club and also ‘Challenge Club’.

Away from the Classroom

Family life is very important to me; my husband is a Sergeant in the British Army therefore we like to get involved in military life. We love to spend time with our two dogs, walking them in the picturesque Surrey countryside. In 2020 I was awarded an MEd in Educational Leadership.  I also enjoy cooking, travelling and a good political debate!
