Life before Longacre
I have had a varied role in education since my first teaching role in a very large Coventry comprehensive, far too many years ago to mention. During my extended 8 year maternity leave, I worked voluntarily as a Chair of Governors at my local Infants’ School. I returned to work, working as a Parent Partnership Officer in a South London Borough, supporting parents with children with SEN, acting as an advocate and obtaining Statements and preparing tribunal papers. The lure of the classroom proved too much and I returned to school full time, first as a behaviour management specialist, pastoral counsellor and safeguarding lead in a secondary school in Hampshire and then finally, back into the classroom as an English and Drama teacher to years 7-11.
Roles at School
I am Head of English and Reading Lead and teach classes in Forms IV-VI. I oversee “On the Subject”, the pupil written termly newspaper and I also teach Games to Forms III and IV.
Away from the Classroom
Time permitting, I enjoy running, reading and seasonal gardening. I bake the odd cake and take in the odd gig. I am also a co-opted Governor at my local village Infants and Primary School with responsibility for SEND.
