The Longacre Chamber Choir enjoyed a full day of singing at King Edward School’s Choral Day on Friday 27th April. The Chamber Choir sang along with choirs from three other schools. Our Longacre children experienced sectional rehearsals, singing vocally complex pieces such as Parry’s “I Was Glad,” Wesley’s “Blessed Be The God And Father” and my personal favourite, Handel’s “Zadok The Priest.”
They also rehearsed with the full choir, including Basses & Tenors in 4-part harmonies! The children did amazingly well to sight read the pieces, follow the musical direction and instruction, not to mention to sing in Latin!
The King Edward’s chapel was the perfect setting for the concert held at the end of the day, to show case all of the children’s hard work. The singing was impressively unified, expressive and moving.
