At Longacre School we are fortunate to have a very active PTA who are an integral part of the Longacre community. In addition to fundraising, the PTA also organises social events for parents and staff such as Quiz Nights and Murder Mystery nights, wine tasting evenings, family camp outs, welcome breakfasts and coffee mornings as well as Easter egg hunts, movie nights, board game evenings and Valentine’s discos for the children. The PTA also organise a summer fete and Christmas Fair each year as well as the very popular annual Summer Ball fundraiser.
Each class has a PTA rep that is responsible for ensuring that all parents, but specifically new parents, are welcomed to the school and are aware of the PTA’s activities, class assemblies and other social gatherings.
Funds raised by the PTA have been used towards a new playground for the Pre-Prep and a new Nature Trail for the school as well as the purchase of two new school mini buses. The PTA’s fundraising target for this year is to raise £35,000 for sound and lighting improvements to the Palmer Hall.
The PTA also contributes 10% of funds raised each year to a charity of their choice which in previous years have included the Surrey Mental Health Fund and Shooting Star Children’s Hospices.
