Learning & Curriculum

At Longacre nursery we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum covering the seven areas of learning:

  • Communication and language
  • Physical development
  • Personal, social and emotional development
  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding the world
  • Expressive arts and design

Our Nursery is fully immersed into the wider school community and school life, with access to specialist teachers in PE, Forest School, Music and French every week.

Learning through play is vital in a young child’s development. Through our provision within our nursery and through specialist lessons children are provided with many different opportunities for play. Whether this is making dens in the woods, balancing on beams in PE, or singing, dancing, exploring colours and being creative, our staff endeavour to nurture your child’s confidence and independence whilst aiding them in forming secure, emotional attachments with their peers and staff.

Tapestry

Here at Longacre we feel it is very important that as parents you can have an insight into your child’s learning. We use an ‘online learning journal’ called Tapestry. Tapestry enables the staff to take photographs and videos and make written observations of the activities your child accomplishes throughout their journey in Nursery and into our Pre-Prep.

You will have access to all the information using your email address and a secure password you select yourself. This means that you can comment on any observation and upload your own photos and videos of what your child is doing at home.
