U11 Girls Rugby Masterclass

Posted: 26th November 2018

The Forms V & VI girls were very privileged to have a masterclass with England international and Rugby World cup silver medalist Leanne Riley on Monday 26th November. The girls were treated firstly to a motivational talk and Q & A session during which they were given the once in a lifetime experience of holding the actual World Cup silver medal and the chance to find out more about what it takes to get to the pinnacle of world class women’s sport.

They then had an intensive physical session learning to play the basics of the game with exciting passing, running and ball presentation following a tag drills. The girls then got very excited as they took the first steps of learning to tackle each other and it was brilliant to see how they threw themselves into this. Some great skills on display and all players embraced all aspects of this fantastic coaching session. There were lots of tries and the muddy legs (and faces) by the end of the afternoon bore testament to how much the girls enjoyed Leanne’s visit and we look forward to more visits in the future. Huge thanks to Leanne for taking the time to visit and giving the Longacre girls such an amazing, inspirational experience.
