What a week Form V had at Cobnor Activity Centre in the beautiful Chichester Harbour. The children were so excited to be able to go on our ‘non-residential’ residential and they certainly made the most of every minute. From the Wellerman theme song to our ‘Camper of the Day’ & ‘Doughnut of the Day’ awards – this fun-loving, up for anything year group threw themselves (literally in some cases) into sailing, kayaking, canoeing, archery, climbing and various team and character building activities which saw them all grow in confidence, develop trust in each other and face a few fears.

Amazing weather for most of the week helped the team embrace every challenge and the camaraderie and character that developed was palpable. Highlights included sailing in 20 foot Hawk Keelboats from Chidham to Thorney Island, getting soaking wet after playing fruit salad kayaking, climbing to the top of the stack, seeing some teachers getting competitive at Aeroball and making impressive fireballs using char cloth made from Phil’s old jeans!

Every member of the year group has approached this week with an attitude that is a credit  to them and the school – their happy faces and hearts are evident in their enthusiasm, effort, increased resilience and willingness to learn new skills. A much-needed boost after the last year and a massive thanks to all the Longacre staff and instructors for making it such an enjoyable experience for all.
