Form V Trip to Land & Wave

Posted: 7th June 2019

The Form V children spent an amazing week in Swanage leading up to half term on their Land and Wave residential and what a week it was! Every pupil fully embraced all the opportunities, learning new skills such as fire lighting, navigation, guiding each other while blindfolded as well as trying all the activities on offer. They kayaked, hiked, made bread on the camp fire, paddle boarded and jumped into the sea off 5m cliffs with no fear. Staying in bell tents, the group obviously learned a lot about their camp mates, supporting them through thick and thin and forging strong bonds that will stay with them forever, including understanding that wearing all the clothes you own could keep you warm and if you roll over in a sleeping bag you may end up closer than you think!

Everyday brought a different challenge alongside lots of laughter, volleyball, fabulous food and bubbles. All 33 pupils were an absolute credit throughout the week with their endless enthusiasm, energy and positive attitude. They are a group that embrace anything new, really take care of each other and are genuinely pleased when one of their number do well, which is a wonderful thing to see. They were resilient, thoughtful, innovative and entertaining, particularly around the campfire with some truly dreadful singing and dancing!
