In Years 1 and 2, children build on the foundations laid in Reception, continuing to grow academically, socially, and creatively. Our focus is on fostering confidence, curiosity, and a love of learning, while tailoring experiences to each child’s individual strengths and needs.
Academic Excellence
Phonics, Writing & Maths Mastery: Daily lessons continue to develop reading, writing, and a deep understanding of maths through a mastery approach.
Immersive, Cross-Curricular Topics: Children explore rich, engaging topics that connect different areas of learning, encouraging critical thinking and creativity.
Child-Initiated Learning: Every child is supported to pursue their own interests, with opportunities carefully planned to challenge and inspire.
Outdoor Learning & Wellbeing
Forest School: A whole morning each week is dedicated to exploring nature, using tools safely, and enjoying outdoor cooking. This hands-on approach develops problem-solving, resilience, and teamwork.
Swimming Lessons: Weekly swimming sessions build confidence, fitness, and water safety skills.
Specialist Teaching
Children benefit from specialist lessons in sport, music, French, and Forest School throughout Year 1 and Year 2. In addition, Year 2 introduces Design & Technology (DT) lessons, further broadening the curriculum and giving children more opportunities to explore new skills.
Every element of our curriculum is designed to help children progress at their own pace, celebrating individual achievement while preparing them for the next stage of their education.
