Life before Longacre
Here, there and everywhere! I started my career as a senior school Classicist, teaching Latin, Greek and Classical Civilisation up to IB and A level at Hampton School and King’s, Wimbledon. I then discovered how amazing it is to work in Prep Schools and went out to Summer Fields, a boys’ boarding school in Oxford. From there I went to be Deputy Head (Academic) at Saint Ronan’s in Kent. I’ve been fortunate to experience everything from the ages of 2-19; single-sex and co-ed; day, boarding and ‘flexi’, traditional and progressive.
Roles at School
Professional teacher, learner, meeting-holder, story-teller, cheerleader, referee. It’s the best job I’ve ever had!
Away from the Classroom
Time with my family is hugely important, in particular taking our dogs Horace and Hero out over the Surrey Hills. I like to play the guitar; it helps to counterbalance the stress associated with supporting Tottenham Hotspur. When I have time to myself, I enjoy performing to a distinctly average standard at golf, cricket and cycling, along with aiming to break the four-hour barrier in a marathon (they tell me fifth time is a charm…).
