Life before Longacre

I have been lucky enough to have taught at schools in the UK, Australia and the USA. I lived and taught in Sydney for 8 years which was amazing as I was able to indulge my love of the outdoors and all sports in fantastic weather.  I moved to Longacre from Worth School where I was Head of Sport before going part-time when my second daughter was born. We live at Christ’s Hospital School in Horsham where my husband is the Head of Design Technology.

Roles at School

I teach Games and PE at Longacre as well as Forest School. It is very different from teaching in a senior school and I LOVE it! My favourite part of the job is ensuring that everyone has the chance to become the best that they can be, helping them develop a lifetime love of sport and lead an active healthy lifestyle. My favourite part of Forest School is teaching the correct use of tools to all ages. I am passionate about helping children think about others and as such I run the Community Service Club at Longacre. I also run the ski trips and the Land & Wave trip for Form V (both highlights!). I love to see children achieve in different circumstances – they often amaze me.

Away from the Classroom

I am an active and able person with a passion for all sports. I have played most sports to some degree, including several to county and British Universities representative level. I play netball, tennis and touch rugby for local clubs and National League volleyball currently. I am an extremely keen skier who spends most holidays in the snow and have led many trips to various resorts in Europe, Australia and the USA. I love woods, beaches and mountains and am passionate about enabling children to access the amazing British countryside and have opportunities to develop their learning in the outdoors. I enjoy coaching sport, water sports, camping and den building with my two daughters, live music, reading and being outrun by my dog Tommy, a retired racing greyhound!
