Creative Wellness Festival

Posted: 28th May 2021

After an extraordinary year for the children, we decided to incorporate a ‘Creative Wellness Festival’ into the Summer Term. With a national focus on mental health during the pandemic we focussed on relationships, empathy, social skills, mindfulness, creative meditations and using art as ‘therapy’ in a fun two days outside in the woods!

Reception to Form VI welcomed back our visiting artist Liliana Montoya and enjoyed some immersive outside art workshops with the children. We also welcomed Atifa from www.surreyhillswellness.co.uk who ran some mindful meditation sessions in the woods and outdoor classroom, using singing bowls, feathers and all sorts of wonderful techniques!

On Friday, we also loved the Coram Shakespeare School’s Foundation who delivered a Shakespeare Storytime workshop to each year group across the school from Reception to Form VI – designed to re-engage every child and encourage collaborative working. We also organised a tie dye station where children tie-dyed some bunting to hang up in the woods.

Kindergarten and Nursery loved their Mindful Music sessions with Miss du Pon as well as the tie-dye sessions and a wander through the festival themed woods!
