On Tuesday, Longacre hosted our very first ‘Spell It!’ Competition with guest host, Douglas Buchanan. Battling three visiting schools, the children had to solve anagrams, find the hidden words, correct spelling mistakes and then finally face the ‘fierce five’. This was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the joys and challenges of the English language and, of course, get a taste of normality, with the children having the time to talk to pupils their own age from other schools. After an exciting afternoon of ten spelling challenges, the results were:
4th place: Cranleigh C of E School (105)
3rd place: Duke of Kent (128)
2nd place: Parkmead (132)
1st place: Longacre (141)
Well done to everyone who took part and we cannot wait to get the chance to defend our title with future Spell It! competition.
