Longacre was represented for the first time at the Waverley Tennis Skills Festival held at Shalford Tennis Club on Wednesday. We had 14 players from Forms II – IV taking part in the blazing sun, completing eight different tennis skill stations including serving, volleys, longest rally, footwork and racket agility. All were against the clock and the players worked extremely hard to score as many points as possible working together as a team. All players were outstanding in their attitude, helping each other and encouraging everyone to do the best they could. The older children were role models for the younger players and Josh was an exemplary overall leader, making sure everyone was where they were supposed to be and running the teams like a well-oiled machine.

It was an amazing experience for all in very hot conditions and we are so proud of all the Longacre players (and coaches) as they emerged as top point scorers to win on the day but even more importantly showed excellent manners, resilience and respect for everyone at the event. They embraced every challenge with enthusiasm and gained a huge amount from taking part in so many diverse tennis activities.

A massive thanks to Matt for organising the event and to all the helpers at the club for making us feel so welcome. Also thanks to Al and Amelia (our super coaches) for coming to support. The tennis was so much fun and we loved every minute of it.
