On Monday, four of our Form VI mathematicians went to Windlesham House to compete against 45 other teams from local schools. They really enjoyed the experience, racing against time to solve some high level problems, and the competition was fierce! There were three rounds and the children had to find values of numbers (algebra), create calculations to find a specific answer (countdown) and then complete the “big event” where they had a variety of word problems to solve in a mathematical relay. The markers were kept busy, marking only one question at a time, before the children had to run around the hall and back to their seats. The atmosphere was electric and mathematical brains were not the only requirement for this competition. Our children were a credit to the school and should be very proud of their efforts.
